Our team of specialised accountants and tax specialists has an abundance of experience advising all types of businesses.

Stephen Docherty, FCCA

Founder

Stephen is the owner and business adviser at S D Business Management. His mission is to ensure both his team and clients are well looked after. As well as supporting clients to manage their finances, he advises on tax planning, business growth and restructuring. 


A keen cyclist and football player, Stephen combines his passion for sport with his desire to help others and has helped raise more than a hundred thousand pounds for several charities over the years.

Andrew Docherty, ACCA

Director

‘Andrew is a qualified accountant with more than 15 years’ service at SD Business Management. In addition to working closely with clients to give them peace of mind and help them grow their business, he enjoys sharing his ideas for tax planning including specialist areas such as trusts and VAT on international supplies.


The natural world is a longstanding interest for Andrew, and he likes to get into the outdoors as often as possible to do walks with his wife and two sons. He is also a keen reader and music fan, enjoying tinkering on the guitar from time to time.’

Gillian Douglas, FCCA

Accounts Manager

Gillian, a qualified accountant, has been with S D Business Management since 2007. She works closely with a variety of clients and enjoys finding additional ways to be of support.


Mother of two boys, Gillian loves to spend her downtime with family and socialising with friends. She also likes to keep fit and recently completed the 14.2 miles Kilt Walk in Glasgow, for Cancer Research.

Barry Stewart ACA

Director

Barry is a law graduate and Chartered Accountant and with over 30 years’ experience advising a wide variety of businesses and business owners.


Barry qualified as chartered accountant with KPMG in London and then specialised in Corporate Restructuring with KPMG in Scotland before going on to be a licenced Insolvency Practitioner. He is a former member of the ICAS Insolvency Committee.


He has been a business owner and has set up and run a number of advisory firms in the UK and Ireland. In addition to being a chartered accountant he also holds a Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.


Outside of work Barry enjoys cycling and running and has been known on occasion to play the odd round of corporate golf.

Wilson Wallace

Tax Senior

As a specialist with many years’ experience in the industry, Wilson has an in-depth knowledge of tax efficiency, from which our clients can draw. He prepares tax returns and keeps clients up to date on their latest tax position.


Wilson is a great sports enthusiast with a particular passion for football. He's looking forward to teaching his young granddaughter how to play chess.

Lily Bownes

Trainee Accountant

Lily graduated from the University of Glasgow with a First Class Honours in Geography and Economics. Enthusiastic about learning, she is currently studying to gain her ACCA qualifications.


She enjoys problem solving and logic puzzles, can complete the Rubik’s cube in under 2 minutes and is a master at Suguru. In her free time, she appreciates getting out of the city and going surfing or hillwalking.

Marta Mondrzyk

Client Advisor

Marta joined SD Business management in 2022 after gaining a range of knowledge and experience in different fields of accountancy over the previous six years.


Marta was born in Poland and has lived in Scotland for 18 years; she loves living here but regularly travels back to Poland to see her friends and family. Marta has a bright and bubbly personality and is often kept busy supporting her son during his sessions in Krav Maga, which is a self defence system.

Nana Osafo

Trainee Accountant

Osafo joined the team after two years at university studying Accounting. He is always looking for a new challenge and he is looking forward to starting work on his ACCA qualifications.


In his spare time Osafo enjoys playing a variety of sports but with a particular of passion for football, which he plays every week in the West of Scotland Football League. He also tells us he’s keen to test his badminton skills against the best players in Scotland.

Farida Idrissi

Bookkeeper

Farida joined us in 2018 leaving a career in Retail management behind. She has brought a great deal of enthusiasm to this new role and has progressed in a short time from Bookkeeper to Bookkeeping Supervisor overseeing the Payroll & Bookkeeping department and has now recently taken on the position of Office Manager.


On days off, Farida enjoys socializing with family and friends, trips to the cinema, theatre, restaurants and abroad.
